I am so proud and excited about our newest endeavor, Out Loud On Air. This is a new weekly segment airing on WLRH's The Arts Underground showcasing spoken word and literary arts. This aims to put more of a spin on a reading, allowing each piece to be read by a group to create a vocal theater feel, with voices, snaps, claps, laughs and more. The ever talented and amazing Bobby Milk adds music and sound effects, and creates an incredible finished product to send out on the airwaves right to your ears!
Beth Norwood, dear friend and the wonderful host of the Arts Underground, approached me with an offer to get more literary arts on the airwaves, and the idea exploded from there. We're amazingly grateful to Beth, Brett, and WLRH for giving us the tools to create an interesting new spot on the air.
The first round of recording happened a few weeks ago with local poets/writers/readers/people I love, Shea Stripling, Kristy Jane From-Brown, Jeremy Bronaugh, and Robert Fitzpatrick and it was clear that this project was off to an amazing start. We gathered the night before recording for a preliminary meeting to discuss how we dreamt our pieces would sound, and the next night we recorded 4 different poems in about 45 minutes. We were unstoppable.
This year has been amazing in the growth of Out Loud HSV, and its only March! I have several new irons in the fire as well so stay tuned, and be sure to listen to Out Loud On Air on Saturdays on WLRH (89.3fm) during The Arts Underground between 2-3pm!
