Out Loud HSV is a spoken word community in Huntsville, Alabama hosting regular events, open mics, and poetry slams in an effort to grow the literary arts and creative writing in our area. We hope to accomplish this by providing a platform for people to interact with other writers and readers, and grow their own skills. Since the first open mic in April 2014, Out Loud HSV has had a unique spark. The community that blossomed is not only talented and inspiring; they are profoundly supportive of one another. We invite you to join us at any upcoming events in the area - for a full list of events, click below!

Our Mission: Out Loud HSV aims to provide an accessible platform for writers and poets of all walks of life to come together to interact with their community, have important conversations in a safe space, and grow their writing and performance skills. Out Loud HSV inspires community outreach and activism through spoken word.

Poetry Slams: We have poetry slams on the second and fourth Sundays of every month, doors at 6:30pm show at 7pm. For a full list of rules click here. Each year we form a slam team which travels to compete at Southern Fried Poetry Slam. For more information on that, click here.
