Last Saturday we celebrated the artwork of Sam McCall at Out Loud On Display in the Out Loud HSV Studio. Sam brought 8 new pieces to display, brought a collaborative art project, and did a brief reading of his poetry at noon. It was probably the busiest day we've ever had at the studio as far as people coming through the doorway, and I could not have been happier. I love the opportunity to show what our community members are doing to a larger audience. Plus, Sam's artwork and poetry are amazing and everyone needs to see/hear them.
I am inspired to do more in the studio to show the correlation between visual and literary arts and how they inspire us. Sam's work was a perfect addition to the space because of his use of music and lyrics to inspire his drawings, even incorporating some key words or phrases in each piece. Come check them out. Some amazing detail and line work and all around inspiring stuff.
The big point of this blog post however is to say if you are a member of our community who also explores a visual arts medium and is looking for a place to display/sell your work, come on out and lets talk about putting a show together. Even if you've never shown your work before, I encourage you to start. You're awesome. Let me show people how awesome you are.
In case you missed it, here's the video of Sam reading some poems at last weekends Out Loud On Display event.
