Zine Layout - Upon returning with a portion of their content, participants will then learn how the pages of their zines will come together and begin learning how to lay out their pages using the traditional cut and paste method. For our “master” copies, we will use a heavier weight cardstock so that it is more durable. I will provide scrap paper, books, magazines, fabrics, things to use to decorate their zines and show them different methods of cutting and pasting them to the pages. I will also talk to them about editing and keeping their content focused. I will bring a small copy machine so that they can learn about using the resizing tool built into the machines, as well as other settings to experiment with the visual aesthetics. Also, if two participants wish to use the same provided image, we can make copies for them. The goal of Class 2 is to complete at least one page of their zine so that they may understand how finish the task at home. Homework will be to complete their pages to bring back for Class 3. (please note, it is not required to take all three zine courses)
