Poetry Slam Sunday

P2130259.JPG

Join us for an action packed hour long poetry slam! Poetry slam is the competitive art of performance poetry designed to engage both poets and audience, where participants are judged by members of the audience to advance rounds until a winner is chosen. The winner of each event will receive glory and celebration, along with a $10 roll of quarters provided by our lovely sponsor, Karma Rags.

Poets, these events are open sign up, so if you would like to compete just bring three poems (one for each round, if you make it to all three rounds) and show up early(6:30pm) to assure you have a space. Each piece should be no longer than 3 minutes or points will be taken off your score. No props, no costumes – just you, the mic, and your words.

Audience, you are vital too. Whether you are a judge or just a raucous viewer, we need your love and encouragement to keep the energy high and the momentum rolling. Get loud, get rowdy, and show your support for the people on stage pouring out their hearts to you.

A Mini Haiku Slam will take place at 6:45 before the full poetry slam. Sign up is limited to 4 people and sign up begins promptly at 6:30pm.
