Out Loud HSV Grant

Grant Applications Are Now Open!

Grant applications open February 15, 2026. They will run until May 17, 2026.

This year, Out Loud is offering a grant of $500.00 to one (1) writer in the state of Alabama to further their work, study, and/or other opportunities in the literary arts (with especial attention to spoken word poetry). If you believe your work could benefit from such funding, please see the application requirements below.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

1. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and currently residing, working, or attending school in Alabama.

2. Applicants must have performed at an Out Loud HSV event at least once in the 24 months prior to the opening of applications.

3. Applications must contain the applicant’s name, preferred contact information (including a mailing address), and a short statement (not more than 500 words) describing how the grant award would be used to both further the mission of Out Loud HSV and benefit the literary arts in Alabama.

4. Applications will close at 11:59PM on May 17th. Late applications will not be considered.

5. Applications must be sent via the form below before the deadline.

Applications will be anonymized before review, and the awardee will be announced at the June 21st Open Mic. If you are selected and are unable to attend the Open Mic, a check for the full amount of the award will be mailed to you at the address provided in your application.
